Assistant Director, Small Business Development

Job Description

Under the supervision of the Small Business Development Center Director (

SBDC

) or appropriate administrator, this position leads the development and production of educational programs for the small business community to include marketing initiatives. In addition, this position will provide one-on-one business consulting to emerging and growing small business owners.

Leads in planning, developing and implementing small business educational programs.

Manages the SBDC’s training seminars leading a team of administration staff with seminar logistics including scheduling, promotion, registration, program materials, etc.

Prepares reports from seminar data to support continued funding from sponsors.

Provides one-on-one consulting services to entrepreneurs.

Performs research and data collection for qualified entrepreneurs.

Develops marketing collateral ensuring consistency and compliance with branding guidelines across the eight-county, nine-office region.

Responsible for the content and design of the

SBDC

website.

Manages marketing campaigns implementing targeted marketing strategies.

Develops client success story videos illustrating the SBDC’s impact on the community.

Assists in building successful community relations through collaborations with external constituencies.

Represents the university/

SBDC

on committees.

Other duties as assigned by Director.

Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience; or a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and four years of appropriate experience.

Additional Minimum Requirements

Preferences

A strong background in communications, training, marketing and familiarity with small business operations and programs is preferred.

Familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud.
