Newsy is hiring a Vice President of Sales in New York City. In this role, you'll be responsible for providing strategic leadership and direction for building the Newsy brand as a leader in the cable and over-the-top news ecosystems through profitable revenue. Reporting to the General Manager, Newsy, the Vice President, Sales will lead and manage the Newsy sales and revenue operations teams; helping to set revenue targets, and being responsible for ensuring they're met.

Key Activities:

Responsible for producing profitable revenues, increasing margin, and ensuring long-term viability of Newsy's ad sales business

Develop sales strategies that support the company's short and long-term goals

Provide comprehensive and detailed analysis of trends, current sales, and competitor benchmarking data

Directly supervise the sales and revenue operations teams while working across Newsy's leadership team to meet and exceed revenue goals

Lead and coach sales team to increase advertising revenue, with a focus on growth and development of existing accounts, as well as garnering new business/accounts

Communicate and present sales strategies to advertisers, agencies, and staff, in a comprehensive format that can be transferred to closed sales and individual sales action plans

Develop positive relationships with advertisers and maintain high levels of advertiser satisfaction

Education and Experience Required:

Bachelor's degree in sales, business or related field, or equivalent experience required

5 years proven success in a business development or sales position, preferably in media

2 years' experience managing a high functioning sales team

Knowledge of programmatic, direct and native advertising required

Experience in cable or broadcast news sales preferred

Skills and Abilities:

Proven success in setting direction for and achieving revenue goals

Strong business development experience, and a demonstrated ability to define, develop, implement and execute new partnerships and creative solutions for advertisers

A strategic thinker who can interpret and act upon industry trends to identify new business opportunities, while maintaining a sharp focus on day-to-day execution

Advanced negotiation and analytical skills are a requirement

Proven track record in cross-functional collaboration with the content, technology, marketing, finance, and operations teams

Experience building and leading a business development team successfully through rapid revenue growth

Exceptionally self-motivated and directed

Advanced spoken and written communication skills

Effective in a variety of formal presentation settings inside and outside the organization

Skilled at bringing creative ideas to market, and keen sense of managing the creative processes of others

Proven and effective leadership skills
