Description Job Summary:As a member of a highly trained and proficient team, the Business Development Manager and Flight Paramedic employed by Erlanger Health System is responsible for:Non Clinical Requirements: Manage and achieve the business development directives of LIFE FORCE and EHS through direct collaboration with Executives, Physicians, and Service Line Leaders in the identification, design, and promotion of current, new, and or, expanded initiatives and services. Advance relationships with local and regional physicians, hospitals and pre-hospital agencies to maximize referral retention, utilization and market share for EHS. Drive referral growth for targeted service lines and specialty, employed physicians.Develop and implement strategies to maintain, and or, capture new market share. Oversee changes in regional physician coverage and hospital services, responding to opportunities for partnerships and specialty growth. Review and analyze internal and external referral and market data; responding with an action plan to address market leakage. Work as a team member of assigned Service Lines in the development & implementation of business development initiatives to expand the line and grow the market. Identify and nurture opportunities for physician recruitment. Provide managerial coordination and execution of local and regional activities, programs and educational events that promote and support EHS services. Classify and report barriers in accessing EHS that are experienced by physicians, hospitals and pre-hospital agenciesClinical Requirements: Direct \/indirect care of the patient (s) during prehospital and interfacility transports on board the aircraft or as deemed necessary within the hospitalAssessment of any trauma or medical patientInitiation of indicated treatment modalities in accordance with written guidelines and verbal medical control direction. Possession of and the ability to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age (s) of the patient (s) transported by the air medical service, including the neonate through the geriatric age populations. Demonstrated knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life spaThe ability to assess data reflective of the patients status and assimilate the information necessary to identify each patients requirements relative to his or her ageThe demonstrated knowledge and ability to provide\/prioritize care based on LIFEFORCE guidelines and proceduresThe demonstrated ability to work in and around helicopters in all phases of flight, and assist with maintaining cleanliness and efficiency of the air medical department. Refer to LIFEFORCE guideline Standards of Professional Performance of LIFEFORCE Air Medical Crew 7136.2001 for detailed job responsibilities. Education:Required: Bachelor�s Degree Or equivalent work experience with a minimum of 10 or more years in a sales management \/business development position. Graduate of an accredited EMT-Paramedic training program.Preferred:Master�s degree is preferred.Non-Clinical Experince: Previous demonstrated leadership experience. Knowledge of health care delivery systems, both acute and ambulatory. Experience in sales, physician relations, marketing, and service excellence. Experience utilizing strong communication skills and multi-project coordination. Past successes in leading growth initiatives. Demonstrated ability in leading or facilitating teams. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook required. Clinical Experience:Required:A minimum of five years of continuous experience on an Advanced Life Support Ground Unit as an EMT-P. Experience must reflect general knowledge in pre-hospital medicine principles and practice skills, current trends and new developments.Preferred:Three years of �In-Charge� experience on a 911 ambulance.Position Requirement(s): License\/Certification\/Registration\/SkillsClinical Required:Licensed or Certified as a EMT-Paramedic in the state of residence. Must obtain Tennessee licensure prior to starting clinical orientation with LIFE FORCE. Georgia licensure must be obtained prior to completion of orientation. Certifications: BLS within 30 days of hire and ACLS.Certification in one of the following: PALS, PEPP, PBTLS or ENPC. Certification in one of the following: ITLS, PHTLS, TNCC or TNATC required.After LIFE FORCE orientation, must always meet the state of Tennessee�s Air Ambulance rules requirements as a Flight Paramedic.Flight Paramedic Certified (FP-C). New employees must obtain certification within one year of date employment. Due to weight limitations allowed onboard the aircraft, the maximum body weight is 250 lbs including gear for an EC-135 or Bell 407 aircraft base.Preferred:Nationally Registered EMT-Paramedic (NREMT-P) Instructor certifications in BLS, ACLS, ITLS, PHTLS, and PEPP, PBTLS or PALS.is preferred upon hire Non-Clinical: Professional presentation and demeanor to serve as the �face of Erlanger� for our community and regional partners.Possess a strong customer centered, Service Excellence, focus and attitude.Effectively communicate with a wide variety of personalities at various leadership levels within and outside the organizationFunction independently and effectively in a dynamic environment; setting timelines and meeting deadlinesFacilitation and project management skillsProblem solving and multi-tasking capabilities Strong oral and written communication expressionUnderstand complex situations and maneuver within a �matrixed organization�Effective, appropriate use of influence and persuasionConfidence in asking customers for their business- �closing the sell�Department Position Summary:Non-Clinical: The Business Development Manager {BDM} will represent Erlanger Health System to all local and regional providers, facilities and agencies. The BDM is responsible to achieve the business growth initiatives of EHS through the direct promotion and advancement of EHS employed specialty physicians and product lines. Work closely with Executive Leadership and Service Line Administrators to develop initiatives that result in referral and market share growth.Core responsibilities: Provide managerial coordination and execution of local and regional initiatives, activities, programs and educational events that promote and support EHS. Review and analyze internal and external referral and market data; responding with an action plan to address market leakage. Identify and nurture opportunities for physician recruitment. Classify and report barriers in accessing EHS that are experienced by physicians, hospitals and pre-hospital agencies. Provide a bi-weekly market status update to Executive Leadership and Service Line Leaders. Serve as a member of the Service Line teams and attend all pertinent, related meetings. Maintain Strong Regional presence via routine travel in the region for the maintenance and growth of market share. Determine the fiscal needs of the department, submit budget recommendations, monitor and reconcile monthly expenses. Clinical: Ability to perform both Basic and Advanced Life Support practices in the execution of patient carePossesses sound judgment and organizational abilityPossesses and demonstrates above average written and oral communication skillsMaintains proficiency as a FAA designated crewmemberMaintains provider certifications in ACLS, BLS, ITLS or PHTLS Also must hold certification in one of the following: PALS, PEPP or PBTLS, (instructor certifications preferred). Must maintain Flight Paramedic Certification (FP-C) by July 01, 2011 for current employees and within 12 months of hire date for new employees. Must be able to tolerate the stresses of flight including, but not limited to, unpressurized helicopter flight in both VFR and IFR weather conditions, motion sickness and temperature extremes. Must be physically fit to lift, twist, bend and work in small, sometimes hazardous environments. Must meet all FAA designated crewmembers requirement to participate in initial and random drug screening while employed as such. Must be able to wear installed safety belts, helmets, Nomex flight suit, and boots.
