Job Description** This role can be based in Seattle or Washington, D.C. As a Business Development Manager within the Worldwide Public Sector (WWPS) focused on Competitive Intelligence, you will have the opportunity to shape and deliver strategy for using market intelligence to programmatically scale AWS\u2019s cloud computing business. Your responsibilities will include supporting the AWS Sales, Marketing, Business Development (BD), and products teams on customer and partner engagements. You will serve as an expert resource on competitive intelligence of cloud, IT applications and infrastructures, working with our customers and field teams to understand the benefits of adopting or migrating to AWS. You will synthesize data and information from intelligence gathering and customer engagements into succinct findings and persuasively communicate findings and perspectives to sales, product teams and senior management. You will track and prioritize competitive customer engagements that require your expertise. You will develop programs that leverage this learning across the business. The ideal candidate will possess a business and technical background that enables them to drive engagements and communicate the benefits of AWS to IT architects, engineering teams, and C-Level executives. You should have demonstrated ability to think strategically about the business and technical needs of customers. You should also have detailed knowledge and a strong technical understanding of cloud concepts and vendors, and AWS specifically. Roles & Responsibilities: · Serve as a key member of the technical business development team, helping drive WWPS Sales engagements with our customers and partners. · Understand the business and technical requirements of our customers and partners, including the distinct requirements of the public/non-profit sector, and determine how their needs can best be met. . Identify the technical/use case differences of the AWS platform vs. others and build content and messaging to help customers, partners, and internal teams understand the AWS difference. · Work with AWS Sales teams to handle customer questions or concerns about AWS, as compared to our competitors. · Work closely with the sales team to drive closure on our highest priority opportunities. · Work with AWS Sales, BD, and Marketing teams, to drive proactive competitive intelligence conversations and sales messaging with our customers. · Create a repository of competitive intelligence cases studies and product/market analysis to share learnings with all parts of AWS. · Serve as a key source of market insights into how our customers view the benefits of using AWS relative to the broader cloud computing market. · Handle a high volume of engagements and the fast pace of the cloud computing market.
Basic Qualifications· 10 years of pre-sales solution engineering, solution architecture, competitive intelligence, or business development experience. · Technical understanding of cloud computing concepts in general and/or AWS specific technologies, platforms, and solutions. . Understanding of major enterprise IT companies and their offerings. · Strong organizational skills, verbal/presentation skills, writing skills, and attention to detail. · Must enjoy working in a highly collaborative, fast paced environment, and possess outstanding interpersonal skills. · Demonstrated ability to think strategically about business, product, and technical challenges. · Masters degree or PhD in relevant business, computer science, or engineering disciplines.
Preferred Qualifications· 10 years experience focusing on cloud computing industry technology, competition, and industry dynamics. . 3 years demonstrated experience in competitive analysis in the IT industry, and deep understanding of leading cloud computing platforms. . Demonstrated ability to synthesize large amounts of information into actionable insights and crisp presentations. Strong analytic skills, demonstrated track record of harnessing data to drive decision making.
