We are currently a seeking a Business Development Senior Manager to work under the direction of the Chief Marketing Officer. The Business Development (BD) Senior Manager is responsible for achieving firm-wide revenue goals by identifying and helping pursue new business opportunities in line with firm and local office industry business strategies. This role collaborates regularly with the marketing department and is responsible for setting local office and/or industry business development strategy to support marketing efforts. This is primarily an acquisition role responsible for bringing in new clients.
Primary Responsibilities Include:
Develop, manage and execute sales and BD planning, lead generation, pipeline management, sales strategy and development. Specifically:
Identify and pursue target prospects.
Schedule and attend sales calls, follow-up on leads and work with partners to close deals.
Together with marketing, perform lead nurturing to remain top of mind with key prospects who are a fit for our services, but may not be ready to buy immediately.
Engage with professional associations, attend events, set meetings, research and evaluate where time spent will be most productive.
Create connections and makes introductions to place firm’s partners and managers in front of the right contacts.
Help to facilitate a business development culture in the firm by stimulating interest and involvement in developing relationships and new business (i.e., assists with BD training).
Other Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Understands the business development metrics and strives to achieve them.
Strong business acumen with an ability to understand and communicate Marks Paneth’s business, marketplace and value proposition.
Excellent project management skills.
Proven ability to work in a demanding, deadline-driven environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
Excellent verbal and written communication as well as presentation skills.
Ability to travel to participate in events or sales calls.
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite required.
Client relationship management (CRM) experience required; Salesforce preferred.
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing or other related field.
Seven (7) or more years of business development experience working in professional services direct sales or in a development role at financial services firms, including but not limited to experience with accounting firms, financial consulting and business advisory services, preferred.
Proven track record of developing business relationships with C-level executives (CEOs, CFOs, Board of Directors, etc.) and referral sources (attorneys, bankers, etc.) required.
