According to the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development, Wisconsin’s Milwaukee metropolitan area’s unemployment rate declined in July, as compared to both June and July 2007.
The unemployment rate for July was 5.2%, and in June it was 5.3%. Last July, the unemployment rate was at 5.4%.
Job totals also declined, with the area losing 3,700 jobs since last July, and 7,700 jobs since last month.
The region was one of nine Wisconsin metro areas (out of 12) to experience a decline from a month ago.
Wisconsin’s overall unemployment rate for July was 4.8%, outperforming the national unemployment rate of six percent.
